Library

The Club has received philatelic literature donations.  Instead of selling all of the items to club members, the Board of Directors decided to start a small memberís only lending library.  The holdings of the lending library are listed on this page so that club members may select items to borrow.
If you meet the borrowing rules below, you can borrow an item from the lending library with and an email request.  Note the Inventory # from the library table below and email that Inventory # to the librarian at lib@centralfloridastampclub.org.  You can pick up that item at the next club meeting if it is available.

The following table has the rules for borrowing items from the library:

1.

A person must be a member in good standing to borrow material from the library.

2.

The borrower will sign-out the item using the media provided.

3.

The initial term will be to the next regularly scheduled meeting.

4.

An item can be renewed for one additional meeting.

5.

A person not returning an item after the third meeting will be notified by either phone and/or e-mail, requesting the return at the next meeting.

6.

If a person does not return an item within a reasonable time after being notified, all membership privileges will be suspended until the item is returned. The Board of Directors will be notified by the Librarian of the suspension and return of the privileges.

7.

If an item is already checked out by another member, a person can request the item and their name will be placed on a request list maintained by the Librarian. They will be notified when the item becomes available.

The Club has received philatelic literature donations.  The books will be placed on display each meeting in a similar matter as are the Scott catalogues.  At the January Board meeting the following basic policies and rules for items to be included in the library were adopted:

1.

Any media will be accepted including but not limited to hardcover and softcover books, CDís and DVDís.

2.

The item must be philatelic in nature.

3.

The major language must be English.

4.

General catalogues such as Scottís, Michel, Stanley Gibbons and the like will not be included unless deemed appropriate by the Librarian or Board of Directors.

5.

Auction catalogues and/or prices realized will not be included unless deemed appropriate by the Librarian or Board of Directors.

6.

Since our IRS status does not allow valuation of donations, the Club will only provide a list of donations without values for tax purposes if the donor requests.

7.

The Librarian has the right to include or exclude an item from the library. The Board of Directors can review the decision and modify it if they so wish.

8.

Any donated items not deemed appropriate will be returned to the donor with an explanation as to why it was not accepted. If he still wishes to donate the item to the club, it will either be sold via the donation table or placed in an auction.

9.

Any items donated to the club not specifically designated for the library can be added to the library at the discretion of the person in charge of donations and/or the Librarian.

10.

Donated items will become property of the Central Florida Stamp Club and not returned to the donor unless approved by the Board of Directors.

11.

The Librarian will process the donations and make them available to the members.

12.

The Librarian will maintain a list of donated items which will be available to members.

13.

At the first Board of Directorís meeting of each year, the Librarian will present a list of all items in the library that have not been borrowed during the previous two years. Unless directed otherwise by the Board, these items will be removed from the library and sold via auction or discarded.
